Pickwick Lake & Pickwick Landing — Visitor Guide
About 25 minutes from Selmer, Pickwick Lake spreads along the Tennessee River where Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama meet — famous for bass fishing, easy boating and slow sunrises over the water.
What to do
- Fishing — largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie and catfish. Spring is prime season, and tournament weekends bring anglers from across the South (local guides and bait shops cluster around Pickwick Landing).
- Pickwick Landing State Park — marina, swimming and picnic areas, hiking trails, an 18-hole golf course and lakeside views.
- Boating & the river — rent or launch and explore miles of open water; the Tennessee River here is wide, calm and scenic.
- Pickwick Dam — the great TVA dam at the lake's west end; the tailwater below is a favourite fishing and bird-watching spot.
- Sunrise & sunset — honestly, some of the finest in Tennessee. Bring a camera.
Angler's tip: Tournament and holiday weekends fill Selmer's rooms fast. If you're fishing a Pickwick event, book your Selmer base early — you're 25 minutes from the Landing with easy parking for a truck and trailer.
